In 2003 I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. At the time I didn’t think it was a big deal, and I felt OK so I never used my CPAP machine. Once I realized that leaving sleep apnea untreated could have very serious long-term health consequences (I was particularly concerned because heart disease and high blood pressure run in my family), I attempted to wear it. But I just couldn’t get used to it, I still woke up exhausted, and I had no one to talk to about the questions I had.
Over time I noticed myself becoming extremely tired and sluggish throughout the day; worst of all I found myself irritable, negative and snapping at everyone. It got to the point where I was going down to the car at 9:00am to take a nap because I just couldn’t keep my eyes open. It was then I knew I had to do something. I forced myself to use the CPAP machine. After fighting through four different masks and many frustrating nights I slowly became used to it and started feeling much better. I now get through the day without taking a nap and have much more energy than ever before, I feel like I finally have my life back.
I thought there had to be a lot of people who went through the same experience I did… and there had to be an easier, more effective way to get used to wearing a mask and using the CPAP machine. Rob Brough and I started this company with the firm commitment to be there for people starting out on therapy and who continue to be on therapy… being a resource, a shoulder, a confidant and a partner.
I can assure that you’re in good hands with Classic SleepCare… stay well and please take good care of yourself.
